OUGD603 - 8 - DR.ME - Final outcome

When the design came to printing in the Leeds College of Art print room, the black background on the design did not come out solid, which caused the design to not look professional. To fix this issue, the colours of the design have been inverted and any black was changed to [registration], causing it to become more solid. The final design was printed out as double sided A4 on a slightly thick stock. The design was then put in the folding machine in the print room for a professional fold. The post cards have been printed onto matt card to have the best finish possible and have the correct thickness.

OUGD603 - 8 - DR.ME - Inside design

The task set by DR.ME was to design a mailer for myself. The final outcome that has been created includes a series of my work and my personal details. This is to promote my work and also always a link to the PPP Self Branding Module. The images that have been chosen to go in the design are a mixture of design that are in my porfolio and my website. However, no images are in both. This has been chosen so the viewer will definatly recieve some work that they will no have seen before. As the design is a A5 ‘case’, he image within will be smaller than A5, creating them to be able to be used as post cards also.

OUGD603 - 8 - DR.ME - Design Net

This design board shows the net of the final design. The design is A4, which will be folded in half to create a A5 case to hold a series of post cards. It is important for the front and back cover to have my logo and web address so the audience know exactly who the sender is. The details of Mcxi in full will be placed underneath the post cards, so the audience have to interact with the design and view all aspects of it, in order to get to the details. This task was only a day task, but if it was to be taken futher, or re-designs, it might of been useful to add a business card compartment for the reciever to also give out. However if the reciever did not feel the need to hand the business cards out, then the design element would be pointless.

OUGD603 - 8 - DR.ME - Research

As the DR.ME brief was only a day brief, the reseach had to be short and fast. The main focus for research was excisting graphic design mailers because this would give a good understand of what successful mailers look like. The areas that proved useful for this research was Behance and finding indiviual designer from Google searches. It was found that most designers took time to create an alternative packaging for their mailers. Doing this would give the mailer a good impression before it has been opened. It will also encourage the audience to open it.Alot of designers did not show the inside of their mailers online. It would be seen that they did this because they wanted to keep mailers separate from anything that could be seen online, which seems like a good idea. It was also noted that every designers had their logo massivly on the front of their design and packaging.
